Terms of Service

1. Estimates, Not Financial Advice

The TerraValue dashboard provides modeled estimates of ecosystem service values, carbon credit revenues, and economic outcomes. These outputs are for informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.

Carbon credit revenues, ecosystem service valuations, and monetization projections displayed on the platform are modeled estimates and not guarantees of actual revenue or financial outcomes. Users should not make financial decisions solely based on TerraValue outputs.

2. Third-Party Verification Required

Actual carbon credit generation and ecosystem service payments require enrollment in, and verification by, third-party programs and registries such as Verra (VCS), Gold Standard, or equivalent certification bodies. TerraValue does not issue, verify, or guarantee carbon credits or ecosystem service payments.

3. Government Programs

References to USDA programs (including EQIP, CSP, and other conservation programs) and government payment opportunities are provided for informational purposes. These programs are competitive and not guaranteed. Eligibility, funding availability, and payment amounts are determined by the respective government agencies and may change without notice.

4. Scientific Models & Accuracy

TerraValue uses published, peer-reviewed scientific models including RothC (soil carbon turnover), RUSLE (soil erosion), InVEST (ecosystem services), and FAO methodologies (water productivity and nutrient balance). While these models are grounded in established science, all outputs are approximations that depend on input data quality, regional conditions, and model assumptions.

Model outputs will improve over time as we integrate real-time field data, remote sensing, and machine learning calibration. Current outputs should be interpreted as directional estimates, not precise measurements.

5. No Warranty

The platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. TerraValue does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any predictions or estimates will be accurate.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TerraValue and its founders, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the platform.

In no event shall our aggregate liability exceed the greater of one hundred US dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.

7. User Data Ownership

Farmers and users own their data. Any farm data, management practice information, or field-level data you provide to TerraValue remains your property. We do not claim ownership of your data. We use your data only to provide and improve the services described in our Privacy Policy.

You grant TerraValue a limited, non-exclusive license to process your data solely for the purpose of delivering platform services to you. You may request export or deletion of your data at any time.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, models, algorithms, branding, and other intellectual property comprising the TerraValue platform are owned by TerraValue or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the platform without prior written consent.

The underlying scientific models (RothC, RUSLE, InVEST, FAO methodologies) are published works used under their respective licenses. TerraValue's implementation, calibration, and integration of these models is proprietary.

9. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or through a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of TerraValue after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
