Frequently Asked Questions
For Farmers
Understanding your land's hidden value
TerraValue helps you discover the hidden value your farm creates beyond crop sales. Every acre you manage produces ecosystem services — carbon storage, water filtration, biodiversity support, erosion prevention — that have real economic value. TerraValue measures those services and shows you what they could be worth in dollars.
Our models are built on science-grade equations used in peer-reviewed research — including RothC for soil carbon, RUSLE for erosion, InVEST for ecosystem services, and FAO methodologies for water and nutrient balance. When you add your coordinates, results become location-specific using real soil and climate data for your area. Accuracy will continue to improve as we integrate real field measurements and remote sensing data.
Just select your management practices and location — no field data upload is required for the prototype. You can choose your state, pick from common tillage and cover crop practices, and get estimates immediately. As the platform evolves, you will be able to add more detailed field-level data for higher-precision results.
Yes. Farmers can earn revenue through carbon credit programs, water quality trading, biodiversity conservation contracts, and government programs like EQIP and CSP. However, enrollment in specific programs is required, and credit generation must be verified by third-party registries like Verra or Gold Standard. TerraValue helps you understand your potential — actual payments depend on program eligibility and verification.
Absolutely. You own your data — we never sell it. Your information is stored securely in an encrypted database and is only used to provide you with ecosystem service estimates. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
TerraValue currently supports all US states, with soil type data and climate parameters for each region. Our models use state-level and county-level datasets to generate location-specific estimates. We plan to expand to international regions in future phases.
For Investors
The opportunity in natural capital
TerraValue operates as a SaaS platform with tiered subscriptions for farmers, agronomists, and enterprise users. In later phases, we will add marketplace commission on ecosystem service credit transactions — connecting verified sellers (farmers) with corporate and institutional buyers. This creates a recurring revenue base plus transaction-driven upside.
TerraValue is the only platform scoring all six ecosystem dimensions in a single unified model — carbon sequestration, water quality, water quantity, biodiversity, yield resilience, and economics. Competitors focus on carbon-only or single-dimension metrics. Our integrated approach produces a composite TerraValue Score and dollar-denominated ecosystem value that reflects the full natural capital picture.
The platform is built on Next.js with a science-grade model engine based on published peer-reviewed equations (RothC, RUSLE, InVEST, FAO). The architecture is agent-based and designed for self-evolving ML integration — meaning models can be individually upgraded, calibrated with real field data, and extended without rebuilding the core system.
Global ecosystem services are valued at $125-145 trillion per year (Costanza et al.), yet agricultural natural capital remains largely unmeasured and unmonetized. The voluntary carbon market alone is projected to reach $50B+ by 2030. TerraValue addresses the broader opportunity: a multi-dimensional ecosystem services market where carbon is just one of six value streams.
TerraValue is at the MVP stage with an active waitlist and a working prototype that demonstrates our six-dimensional ecosystem scoring engine. We are seeking seed funding to integrate real-time field data, launch pilot programs with farm operators, and build out the marketplace infrastructure.
